A GREENER APPROACH
A key part of the Hyde Landing project is that it will permanently create and protect green infrastructure, and create an economically viable prototype for Climate Action through renewable green energy solutions. A large scale solar farm will generate more than sufficient energy to offset the amount to heat, cool, and light the residential and commercial buildings on the site. The areas selected for solar panels are primarily treeless, open spaces over fill, minimizing their impact on the land. The solar farm will also help the County meet its climate goals.
Hyde Landing will also preserve existing forests and stream valleys, reconnect gaps in green corridors to strengthen existing habitats, and target invasive species for removal. It will incorporate bioretention, gravel wetlands, and bioswales to capture treat and absorb stormwater that falls on the site, reducing runoff from the previously existing large areas of untreated impervious surface.
